The building

In 1986 we celebrated a double jubilee: the 175th anniversary of the birth and the 100th of death of Liszt. As an outstanding event of our musical life, the building at the corner of Andrássy út (in Liszt's time Sugár út) and Vörösmarty utca was opened for pupils, teachers and researchers of the Academy and for music- lovers in general.

On the ground floor the Franz Liszt Research Centre and Research Library offer the opportunity to study the master's life. On the first floor - at the very place of Liszt's last official flat - the Franz Liszt Memorial Museum can be found which is arranged in a way extremely similar to the original flat. Next to the flat is the Concert Hall. On the second floor is a studio collecting records mainly by Liszt, the office of the director of the museum, the Franz Liszt Society and the Hungarian Kodály Society. The classes on the third floor are used for teaching according to the original function of the building.
